So in the end, I did indeed go to the hospital on Wednesday. However, after time in the ER and a day in ICU, they've figured out that my heart and thyroid were both fine. My thyroid levels are actually normal, and I wasn't in CHF (congestive heart failure.) So what was the cause of my great-and-powerful nausea and breathing problems if not one of these problems, you ask? Simple.. this nifty little thing called a gallbladder.
So on top of everything else, I have a shittily-functioning gallbladder and gallstones, which will have to be surgically removed in the next few months. Sucks ass doesn't it? One thing after another. The only reason I'm not still in the hospital having these things removed now is because they were afraid of the complications my atrial fibrillation and CHF could cause for such a surgery. So, we're giving me about a month to see how I do before I go back and see a general surgeon about gallbladder surgery. Fun, fun!
This leaves me wondering what's going to happen next. From what I've read, some people with Grave's disease often have complications with other organs such as heart, kidneys, liver, adrenal function, and gallbladder. Next it'll be something like, "People with Grave's disease experience their limbs falling off.." and my arm will just drop to the floor or something, still wiggling.
I'm feeling okay for the most part. My stomach still feels a little over-full, and my abdomen is very tender, but all things considered, I feel pretty okay. I just have to be a little more careful about what I eat (no more Popeye's.. oh the pain, oh the tragedy.. NOT) and make sure to take steps to avoid another attack like this one if I feel it coming on. Kinda sucks, but I gotta do what I gotta do, I guess. Life's hard, I suppose. It could be worse, though.
Time to try and sleep some before my tummy revolts on me. Goodnight, Neverland. *goes to read Seeing Redd and fall asleep*
