My Sister
My sister,
I miss her.
No really, I do,
I swear it’s true.
Sometimes we fight,
Though we no longer bite.
Usually we tease,
Then we have to freeze.
When my parents say “Oh jeez!”
And then we’re like, “puh-lease!”
We’re just kidding you know,
Putting on a show.
One of us gets blamed,
Then the other feels ashamed.
Everything goes back to normal,
Until we get informal.
Our parents don’t like that,
So then we have a chat.
More like a lecture,
While we study texture.
The wall, the floor,
What a bore.
My sister and I go out and about,
Find a place to scream and shout.
Take a walk to get away,
Wish that we could make them pay.
They just don’t understand us,
Always put up such a fuss.
Hating them brings us closer together,
Flocking in concert like birds of a feather.
She is me,
And I am she.
Together we fly,
My sister and I.
