To the North!

Last wednesday night, Ken, Fidji, Kim, Pam, Krissel and Iheaded to to La Union. The food, people and the beach were great! Usually, there's not a lot of people going here, but I guess the Holy Week  gave everyone a chance to experience La Union. I get to sunbathe under the friendly sun with cold beer in hand (something I always daydream about, whenever I want to get away from the city). The waves called us to rent surfboards and start paddling.

We stayed at Fidji's provincial home near the beach. We were pampered like hell and that created goodvibes amongst us. Breakfast starts at 7 am, lunch at 11 or 12, merienda at 3 and dinner at 6pm. Did I mention midnight snacks?

On our 3rd night, which was black saturday, there was an event. Summer Chill 3 and San Miguel Babad. We went to Summer Chill 3 since last year's San Miguel babad sucked. There were unlimited free "The Bar" shots, free Carlo Rossi Shots and other freebies.

Pam and I wanted to try out something new and do something unforgettable so we joined the movie game. We didn't won because we just laughed on stage but we got 50 php load as consolation prizes haha! Ken and Kim on the otherhand joined the drinking game and won 3 bottles of emperador light hahaha! When it got too hot, Ken and I decided to take a dip on the water and the others followed. I'm not a fan of night swimming, and considering how big and fast the waves are at night, I felt like a daredevil that time.

On our 4th day, Ken, Pam and I headed to Laoag, Ilocos Norte. While Fidji and Kim went back to Manila. I get to visit Ken's provincial home and meet his family. I was, of course, nervous but they all gave us a warm welcome.

There was a river at the back of their house. Pam and I were kind of surprised that it's a part of the cagayan river. I've never really been to something like that.

The water was so clear and it was only knee deep. There were cottages which visitors could rent and eat on.

After that, we ate a hearty lunch care of Ken's family. I must say, the crispy saluyot got me. I found out I was allergic to goat meat. Pam and I fell asleep. We woke up we a sense of urgency to find those ilocos longganisas and empanadas.

Failed to buy longganisas, we decided to just preorder. But since the empanadas are already screaming "eat me" in front of us, why not be happy with what's available?

I ordered a special empanada with rice, egg and ilocos longganisa inside. Yum! If only I could bring some home.
After a long day at Laoag, we were off back to Manila at 9pm and arrived at 7am.
