Noticed these while updating the Blanton page - I think they should be awesome.

  • Mike's World: Michael Smith and Joshua White (and other collaborators)
    September 7-December 30, 2007

The Blanton will present a survey exhibition of the works of internationally renowned performance artist Michael Smith (The University of Texas at Austin Art faculty) and his New York-based collaborator, director/producer Joshua White. Mike's World will present 20 years of videos, installations, drawings, artist books, and performance ephemera that detail the fictional universe of the character, Mike, a sweet but hapless Everyman.

  • Transactions
    September 7-November 18, 2007

An increasing number of artists are inserting their artwork directly into the public sphere, periodically circumventing the art market in favor of existing systems of distribution, from Ebay and mail order catalogues to storefront businesses and outdoor markets. In the process, artists willfully shed much of what makes art legible and identifiable as art, while simultaneously embracing the capacity of art to fundamentally alter and enhance our understanding of the world around us. Humor and irony are implicit in many of these projects, as are intelligence and a keen awareness of the global (art) economy in which art now functions. Transactions will explore the use of alternative systems of distribution by artists Daniel Bozhkov, Conrad Bakker, Eugenio Dittborn, Christine Hill, Emily Jacir, Ben Kinmont, Cildo Miereles, Seth Price, and Zoë Sheehan Saldaña.
