.
me. the bone head.
today at noon i stepped outside my house, placing the papers & glass items in the recycling box. entirely normal, except i usually do this in the morning or at night, when i'm going or coming from work.
today was different. i approached the back door in the usual way, but when i grasped the metal door knob, something strange happened.
it was locked.
i checked my pockets. no keys. no wallet. no phone. suddenly, no brain. okay, no panic either, yet. but i have no hidden spare key. i have no phone to call a few people with back-up keys. i have no money to take the streetcar or cab or subway to get to them. i have no language in common with my immediate neighbours.
i have nothing.
a little reminder that life can throw some shadows into what seems like a sunny spring day. a little test to see what moves are available in the game of life when the goal posts move in the middle of a match.
i walked around looking at what entry would cause the least damage. a little basement window punched in? a big kitchen window? kicking-in the door? all kind of expensive and messy. not easy to fix in a jiffy. walk to a locksmith? walk to a friend's house? those all would take at least 1/2 hour.
sh*t. well, i'll just wiggle the door handle until it opens magically then.
wiggle wiggle.
wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle
and half an hour later the wiggles won.
i guess the vibrations (ahh, sweet vibrations) loosened the handle hardwear and i was able to crank the handle enough to open the door. i think it was god testing me like when he asked Abraham to kill his son, only this was a little bit smaller of a test. just a little bit ;-)
so i had to tell somebody what a bone head i was today.
in other news i paid-off a parking ticket and got a brand new to replace it.
