A Thousand Candles [Hetalia; Poland]: "The walls are falling, falling." (
ref)
Covers events and entities such as
Solidarność,
the Warsaw Ghetto and
Warsaw uprisings, and the
Pacification of Wujek. Most IC Poland fic I've read in the entire fandom so far. It builds and links his canon character to the resilience of the Polish people during WWII in a way that's just... it's perfect. This is why Poland's character design and portrayal is one of my favorites in the entirety of Hetalia, odd as it seems.
It would also be a lie to say he has forgotten, or to suggest that there isn't something ancient and wounded and vicious lurking beneath the surface when he mentions that one of his goals is to, like, totally kick Germany in the nuts.
Few things have ever scared him. He could count them on one hand, if he felt so inclined, and if Germany is nowhere on the list, then Russia or whatever he's calling himself these days isn't either.
His own government never stands a chance of intimidating him.
