Last month my inkjet printer gave up the ghost so I've been half looking for a new one. I do have an old LaserWriter that does a wonderful job with text but I'd like something that can print photos.
Well, last night we were out at Target and I saw a Epson Printer/Scanner/Copier (CX4600) that was Mac compatible and best of all under $100. Now for years I've been advising people away from Multifunction printers because generally all the parts are substandard. I've also spoken against Epson's because of how they eat ink, which has a street value somewhere in the neighborhood of pure cocaine. But I figured at that price it couldn't hurt and besides, it would let me get rid of my old Umax scanner that requires a bunch of software hacks to work with Mac OS X.
The long and short of it all is that I love this thing. It works beautifully with my Mac, it's output is very nice, and it scans fairly quickly with nice results. I have no idea if it will hold up or how quickly it will drink ink but for now I'm happy.
