In an effort to help myself with my money situation (*cough* (and it's not directed at any one person, specifically)), I've been going through my bookcases. While this is something I've needed to do for a while, I just finally got the wherewithall to do it. See, I've got four bookcases, full to running over, in my study, a huge box filled with books in my bedroom, and about twenty books lying in the floor beside my bed. I needed to pare them down.
So, for the past couple of hours, it's been books, books, books. Thus far, I've cleared eleven shelves down to three and a half. I've cleared out the big box in the bedroom, and I need to clear the books beside the bed, too. I've got one bookcase left (the one with all of my magickal/spiritual books, Garfield books (which will NOT be sold), and computer books) to go through. THEN, once I get all of that done, I have to organize them. Spiritual on one bookcase (along with candles and whatnot). Hardcover and computer on another bookcase, and paperback on another.
My organization will go something like this... As I collect several authors (Robin Cook, J.D. Robb, Dean Koontz, Michael Crichton, Faye Kellerman, Clive Cussler, John Sandford (the Kidd novels)... just to name a few), I will be doing the collected authors, first in alphabetical order by author name, and title. THEN, I'll do miscellanious authors (few of those left), in alphabetical order by author/title. Basically, I just want the series authors, first. (For those of you that have my address, if you suddenly decide you have books you don't want, and they're authors I collect, check with me before sending them through (I've had people randomly send me books they don't want, anymore, and they often wind up being duplicates.))
The only big problem? I've kicked up a hell of a lot of dust, as it's been a couple of years, or more, since I've given those shelves a thorough cleaning. Benadryl for the sneezing, tonight, and guaifenesin, tomorrow, for the sinuses. oy.
