Kind of a sucky few days

I did my taxes Monday. Wound up owing $71. So there's that.

One day last week one of the bunnies (Stilinski, if I recall) ran out into the yard right after I got home from work and went outside. I was planning on going right to sleep and had no intention of allowing the rabbits to spend hours frolicking unsupervised, so I shut Amelia into the cage (to keep her from going outside too, while allowing me to leave the back door standing invitingly open in case he tried running inside to escape me) and chased him around and around until I finally caught him and brought him in.

But while I was pursuing my rabbit, I stumbled against a little snag (the stump of a young tree that had been cut down but not trimmed close to the ground) and scraped the side of my foot just in front of the heel. After I got the bunny back in the house, I washed my foot, treated it with hydrogen peroxide, and left it at that. It's been sore and swollen and pink and sometimes itchy ever since, so yesterday I started scrubbing at the scab and got some pus to ooze out. I couldn't get a close enough look to check for splinters. (I could hold a mirror next to it but had a hell of a time trying to get a well-illuminated angle on the wound and anyway it was too far from my eyes to get a close look.)

So last night after Mom got home and woke me from my post-manicure nap, I had her explore my foot with needle and tweezers. I brought cotton balls and rubbing alcohol from my bathroom to treat my foot and the tools with, though Mom went old school and heated the needle tip with a cigarette lighter before beginning. (Also I brought the trash can from my bathroom, but somehow it never occurred to her to drop the used cotton balls in the trash instead of just laying them on the coffee table.) After finding and extracting a splinter, she applied antibiotic goop and a bandaid, and I thanked her repeatedly and went to bed to nap for the hour I had before my first alarm went off. (And then I woke from a nightmare that involved being lost and also late for work and also the target of malevolent forces, to discover I'd passed the final snooze setting on my alarm and barely had enough time left to get dressed and ready to leave.)

And while I was typing the above paragraph, Amelia came along and bit right through my phone's power cord. I do not have that many USB-C power cords, and I've already had one killed and another damaged by nibblesome pets. (As soon as I replaced the cord and plugged my phone back in, Stilinski came along to sniff at it. No, sir, you go away now!)

So what I'm going to need to do after posting this is to move my phone to my bedroom (to finish charging where the bunnies can't get at it) and get some sleep until it's time to feed the cats and do what needs doing before work tonight. And also hit the gym.
