Well and truly into summer now

So two things really screwed up my scheduling over the last couple of days.

Spending too much time knitting in front of the TV was my own fault -- though I got the third and final season of Penny Dreadful watched over the course of the weekend, and got started on the last season of Agent Carter this morning. And there is visible knitting progress to show for it, between my TV time and my visit to Dad. (Which largely went well, aside from taking two separate trips to go get his driver's license renewed, since the first day we went and discovered the office had closed at lunchtime. So we had to go the next morning and I got home a few hours later than I'd been hoping for.)

Another pair of blue kneesocks finished for this fall.

First sock of the pair, bound off this morning. I'll try to get the toe of the second done by this weekend and it'll become my gym knitting.

The Mystik Spiral pattern uses shortrows to play with self-striping yarn. I need to adjust the technique I've been using to pick up my wraps at the turns, but aside from that this appears to be a fairly workable pattern. And certainly it's been holding my interest.

So the other thing that screwed my schedule up was Mom A) taking Monday off work and B) inviting my sister to come visit with her kids. And the day Lauren decided to show up was indeed yesterday rather than Sunday (as Mom had initially suggested), and furthermore she arrived just as I was shifting gears from knitting and clearing the DVR to attacking my "to do" list. I got out of the shower to discover we had company, and they were still there when I got back from visiting Grandma. I decided I could at least do my laundry and the dishes while the kids were underfoot (cleaning the rabbit cage being out of the question until they were gone), but fell asleep in my room instead.

The good thing is that by being asleep by 7pm instead of staying up to watch TV with Mom, I woke up good and early and had a productive morning today. The bad thing is that I had the largest part of my Monday "to do" list to work my way through before I could get started on my Tuesday stuff, and didn't get to the computerage until the afternoon. But at least I'm coming to the end of my list...

I did this before, last summer. I don't know if my technique has improved, but it satisfied me and I got a compliment on it.

Today is an underwater mani, which is also one I've done before, but dammit it looked good and this time I did an aqua ombre instead of just a single color for the water so it looks even better. (I was also thinking in terms of painting in some ripples like I'd seen in someone else's water mani. Thankfully I tried it out on a practice wheel instead of my fingers -- it looked like crap and I decided against it.)

And, right. Hit post on this entry and I can get ready for bed. Though first I'm getting a snack and feeding the cats...
