Bookish week

Jul 02, 2016 22:25

A new Temeraire book came out in the last few weeks, and this past week is the one in which I reread a few of the preceding books before going on to read the new one. So I didn't do much this week except work, read, and not get enough sleep. But I finished the last book in the series this afternoon, and the new one I started reading isn't much holding my interest, so I suspect I won't be as buried in my Kindle tomorrow.

Yesterday was my day to come home and pass out on the couch instead of doing things that needed doing, so today was seriously busy catching up on the "to do" list. One of the things neglected yesterday was calling Dad to wish him a happy birthday, so I did that this afternoon (while standing in the front yard watering roses with the hose, happily repaired before I got home from running errands and visiting Grandma this morning). He wants me to take him to the DMV to renew his driver's license (which he allowed to lapse, through inertia and because he needs a new photo this year), so instead of leaving for my visit after finishing my Tuesday routine I've agreed to leave Tuesday morning and save my computerage for Wednesday after I get back.

Unless of course I get a substantial portion of my Tuesday business handled on Monday. Which would be more likely if I were able to get my grocery run out of the way tomorrow. Unfortunately sleep is the one thing I didn't manage to really fit into today's schedule, so I suspect I'll be coming home exhausted tomorrow. But coming home and handling the most essential tasks before collapsing into bed and sleeping all afternoon and evening would also be workable, if it led to a long and productive Monday...
