So
Mercury went into retrograde a couple of days ago, and even if you don't waste belief on the premise it's still nice to have a few designated periods in the year for tying up loose ends and clearing away unfinished business before letting yourself start anything new. I finished knitting the ribbing of the Come Along, Pond Sock Wednesday and bound it off yesterday, and in the next few weeks I plan to graft the teal afghan border and finish off the Angelfeathers Socks. Also I want to see how much I can get done on the Eggplant Catrionas and Blue Stockings with Clocks -- I won't get either pair near completion, but I can make progress after both having been largely stagnating for the last few weeks or months. And I think handling my darning backlog would be another good use of my time in the next three weeks.
In other news, the bunnies make good progress. I took a photo the night before last of them sharing a pile of collard greens (though when I got back from the kitchen with another handful, Willow had chased Stilinski off), and last night I saw her grooming him (though a few minutes later she tried to nip him). Still, the general trend is towards greater closeness and increased trust. (When Stilinski isn't fleeing Willow.)
And at work this morning I discovered someone had eaten my lunch. Very annoying. First time that's ever happened at this job, and I think the first time I've ever had that problem (mainly because I wasn't much on bringing my own lunch until the last few years, and wasn't generally using the fridge or freezer for anything but chilling my daily Dr Pepper until this job.) There's a "Company Kitchen" vending setup, from which I wound up buying a frozen lasagna with a disappointingly small portion size. Probably just as well I got out of work so early this morning -- no overtime, a few minutes short of even making the eight-hour mark -- so my breakfast came earlier than usual.
And I was flat out exhausted at work last night, and since I've used up my morning at home on the computer, I think I should blow off trying to knit in front of the TV and just get myself into bed ASAP. Only two shifts left to get through this week... (Though I need to see about scheduling Rupert's annual checkup and shots soonish, since I'm getting reminders from the animal clinic, and Dad's birthday is Monday and I didn't get to see him at Father's Day, so I owe him gifts and a visit that I should be setting up a time for...)
ETA: I knew there was something I'd forgotten to mention -- it being so generally chilly in the lab I've been wearing layers even into the summer, but in the last week or so I've been driving to work in the underlayering tank top and putting on my T-shirt over it when I arrive. Which means that my arm tattoos have been on display to a few coworkers for the first time since I started this job, and this morning was when someone snagged me asking if was true that I had "an arm tattoo." I told her I have three and she had me unbutton my lab coat and pull up my T-shirt sleeves to show her. Evidently I astonished some people -- with my usual T-shirt and cargo pants uniform, the nosering is the only off-kilter note to my appearance, and they had no idea I might be slightly more unconventional than noted. (Though I've also been known to walk in there in capris over striped kneesocks -- but that tends to be on Saturday nights, when there's only a skeleton crew anyway. It's not a fashion choice so much as a "going from a frigid lab to a hot house without changing my pants" wardrobe convenience.)
