Tuesday? Feels like it should be Wednesday at least.

So, yes, I lucked out yesterday afternoon, in that the account that got dropped in my lap to deal with at double-quick time turned out to be a really stripped-down and streamlined set of policies -- only six vehicles on the business auto, no additional insureds or waivers or anything else that would have required a lot of specific typing. Just whipped through inputting them into the system before going to lunch, and was able to get them all printed up within an hour and a half of coming back from lunch. So then I had a couple of hours to catch up on Tumblr with after all.

And then I went home thinking I'd share a pizza with Mom and watch Sunday's Borgias -- but I came home with a headache, so I went and lay down in my darkened bedroom to try to shake it and woke up four or five hours later. Oh, well -- at least it took care of my headache. Got up for a few hours for dinner and a bit of knitting, went back to bed for another four hours. I'd like to avoid doing that tonight, but I'm feeling more caught up on sleep today.

Also, this morning I had a heck of a time convincing the cats to come in for breakfast -- turned out there was a little tabby kitten on the patio, yowling and spooking several of them. I coaxed the cats in and fed them -- I could still hear the kitten mewling from outside as I did so -- and then with them distracted I went out with the bag of kitten chow. It wouldn't let me get close, but it came and got the kibble I poured onto a stepping stone after I'd gone inside. It had disappeared by the time I left for work. Kind of interested to see if it comes back later.

Republicans order the US Navy to stop buying biofuels -- "While the Secretary of the Navy would like to see the Navy’s fleet run on cleaner, greener energy, Republicans on Capitol Hill are trying to put through measures that would prevent the Navy from using anything but traditional fossil fuels. BEcause killing the domestic biofuel industry so we can give buy more oil from the Saudis sounds like a swell idea."

Bubba and His Poor, Pitiful Women: Anti-Choice Politician Admits He Doesn't Care if Women Die -- "And now everybody's reaching for their smelling salts because, oh my, a politician trying to outlaw abortion doesn't care if women die. You know what I say? Finally. Finally, someone willing to speak the truth. Finally, someone is willing to drop the bullshit about health, safety, and a 'culture of life" and admit that he'd rather women die than abortion remain legal. Instead of wringing our hands, we should be thanking Bubba for the much-needed history lesson; for reminding us that you cannot ban abortion without killing women. We should be grateful to Bubba for being honest about where he wants to take his home state of Mississippi - back to a time when women and young girls filled emergency rooms with serious complications, like perforations of the uterus, retained placentas, severe bleeding, cervical wounds, rampant infections, poisoning, shock and gangrene; when as many as 1.2 million women had illegal abortions every year."

Sidelinked from the above: What One Week on an Abortion Fund Hotline Taught Me About the Economics of Stigma -- "If you want to witness the collision of poverty in America, sexual health stigma, and the fissures in our healthcare system, volunteer for an abortion fund. Granting money is a privilege, and doing it for something so critical as abortion access - so heavily under assault in this country - is an honor. And if you want to counteract anti-women sentiment and policies in this country, donate to one. Abortion may be legal, but if you cannot afford it, it is not accessible. For a week, I fielded about six calls a day from women across the Pacific Northwest. These were women in tight spots: in high school, homeless, unemployed, undocumented, disabled, down on their luck, about to head into the army, just found out their wanted pregnancy had a fatal defect, rape survivors, or just having a hard time pulling together several hundreds of dollars in a few days. It really ran the gamut."

Jon Stewart, Religion Teacher Extraordinaire -- "Above all, however, Stewart and his writers do two things that make them unique on popular television. First, they cover - and yes, I would say 'cover,' not just satirize or mock - a wide range of religions. If you watched only The Daily Show, you would nonetheless learn, in time, about Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and a whole spectrum of smaller faiths, a category that I would argue includes atheism. And second, they pay attention to points of theology that more traditional news and talk shows skip over. Using chunks of time that would be unthinkable on a network newscast - six minutes for a segment on Mormonism! - The Daily Show teaches the finer points of belief, mining them for humor but at the same time serving a real educational function."

Facebook's Eduardo Saverin quits US ahead of flotation -- "Facebook's co-founder Eduardo Saverin has renounced his US citizenship ahead of the company going public on Friday. Brazilian-born Mr Saverin, 30, will avoid paying around $600m (£373m) in tax when he picks up his share of the site's stock offering. A spokesman said Mr Saverin 'found it more practical to become a resident of Singapore since he plans to live there for an indefinite period of time'."

And this morning I caught up on the weekend's posts on Tumblr and switched to going through three days' worth of LJ posts. Also, I decided that at this point in the pattern I'm comfortable enough with what the Catkin Shawl is doing that I will risk doing it while reading (especially since I did the final major-increase row last night in the wee hours), so I put several rows onto it at the end of lunch and during my time at the front desk. About twenty more rows of the striped crescent and then I cut the black yarn and start working the textured pattern. And while I was up front, there was an additional insured form regarding work done in Plainsboro, NJ, for a Princeton University medical center, which reminded me that the House series finale aired last night and I could have watched the recording in the wee hours while putting rows onto my shawl, instead of sitting through Field of Dreams again because that's what Mom was watching. Well, if Mom goes out and plays darts again tonight, I'll watch it then.

And, Tumblr again:

In response to the Oatmeal piece on Tesla I linked to yesterday, Forbes posted Nikola Tesla Wasn't God And Thomas Edison Wasn't The Devil, and The Oatmeal offered a rebuttal.

Second day in a row of listening to the new Florence + the Machine album over and over again. One of these days I'll tire of it and shift gears to the Breaking Benjamin CD I also ripped and loaded to my MP3 player Sunday night. But it wasn't today, and it may not be tomorrow either.
