I have a facebook more or less for posting crap when I'm bored, and staying in touch with my family and friends who are way too far from me to call or hang out with in person - they all have facebook accounts, so it's nice that they're all in one convenient place.

Yes! Though it goes way beyond facebook. It's like those idiots who take their cameras to concerts or take video/photos with their phone. You're supposed to experience the concert, not take blurry videos with crappy sound quality. How do you really want to remember it? Or like when we go to the ocean or hiking or somewhere and people are so obsessed with taking a bazillion pictures of everything and either someone blinks or there are power lines in the way or whatever. Like, fuck, you have eyes, you are there in person, fuck the fucking camera!
I post photos of my life or myself to show my family and friends because I can't in reality. For me, it serves a great purpose. But I totally see people like my brother who upload their entire life and 20398402 photos of themselves posing in a bathroom mirror... then there are people who have fights on Facebook and.. I don't know..
Facebook is great if you have a reason to use it and use it for that reason. If you don't get into drama, don't play the stupid games, and don't forget to live life, there's nothing wrong with it. It's not the social networking site, it's the people who are using it that suck.
