Updatey?

Mar 04, 2008 22:22

I've been promising an update for awhile now. But now that I'm actually sitting down to write one, i'm not sure there's much to post about...mostly since it's been so long. So, bring on the bullet format!

--Still working at the Body Shop. Swinging between despising it and feeling mildly successful. Can't stand the coworkers, though. One in particular. Last time, I gave in to my evil side. I feel somewhat guilty about it (probably why I'm not posting details) but the look on her face made it so worth it. At least until karma kicks in.

--Went to Boskone a few days ago and got my writer's block cured. I've been slowly (like, need a microscope to detect speed) working on a story. Once again writing about neurologists and weird brain fuckups. I should probably do more research into neurochemistry and neurology given how much this tends to crop up in my writing.

--Now that spring is here, I'm getting over the winter depression/hibernation. I finally feel like I'm developing a community of friends in the area...several of whom actually live within walking distance. it's nice having excuses to get out of the house. Not to mention having sympathetic ears around to help me leach the crazy from my brain when necessary.

--Jeff and I are getting a kitty! She's a found cat we're adopting from a woman named Fran who lives on the southside. She's about 1.5 years old, spayed, black short hair (with just like five white hairs on her chest in an imitation of a tuxedo). She has all her shots and is spayed; my paperwork has gone through and I have cash to cover the adoption fee, so she's going to show up next Tuesday morning. I have next Tuesday and Wednesday off, and Jeff is taking Wednesday off as well, so we can bond with her and help her adjust. Her name is Snowball, after the Simpson's cat, but we may change it to Dynacat, or Dinner.

--a friend of mine introduced me to Gaia Online about a month or so ago. Now I'm addicted. It's pretty much just a giant game of dress-up, and I can't get enough. Anyone else on LJ also have a gaia account?

--This is the first year that I'm going to be filing taxes on my own. I'm both excited at this milestone of impending adulthood, and nervous at the prospect of screwing it up. Anyone know any online idiot-proof ways to do this? I'm really looking forward to getting my return, though. Provided it works out right, half is going to pay an old credit card bill and stop Chase Bank from coming after my kneecaps, and the other half is going to cover TNEO, or The Never Ending Odyssey, a week long follow up to the summer workshop I did in 2006. Well, provided I ever get my ass in gear about the story I'm working on...

--Have tivo. lack brainpower.
