I've been following the production of Disney's Rapunzel for about three years now, about the time that the news hit that they were changing the title of 'The Princess Frog' to 'The Princess and the Frog', and changing the main character's name, because you can't have a princess named 'Maddie'.

Had bigger hopes with Rapunzel, especially when they were talking about the art, trying to make it as detailed and floating as French Rococo artist Jean-Honoré Fragonard's The Swing, which was just a massive squee in and of itself.
(also, the fact that DISNEY wanted to reproduce the art of a picture that is essentially an adulterous woman giving her lover a peep under her skirts as her husband, pushes her, is just amusing)

And the early concept art was really cool. ^__^

Then in March, they changed the name and announced that they were re-tooling it 'for boys' and introducing Flynn as the main character. Because apparently boys don't want to see movies with girl leads in them, and citing Pixar's successes as the reason.

So I didn't want to like it.

... And then I saw the trailer.

See that's what happened to me.

I remember ages ago when it got mentioned and I bounced all over the place.

I remember in enchanted when you passed the Rapunzel play and I was all WAIIII HINTS!!!

Then I remember all the drama and stopped caring for awhile... and like you- I totally loved those early snippets (like the climbing up the balcony) and fangirled, but when I saw her final pic I was like MERP.

And then last night... when I saw him tied up in her hair.

AND OMG YOU FOUND THE TRAILER I LOVE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW *flyingglompofdoom*

And the traaaaaaaaiiiilllllerrr....

I mean... I dunno how I feel about the iguna and the "grounded like forever" but that doesn't matter.
