ok I'm usually just amused by Q3s delusions and desperate need for attention, but if I read the below correctly she's claiming she launched the first charity water campaign. In fact, ADAM announced he was donating his birthday to CW and set the initial goal at 32,000 - fans did not start it and she certainly did not coordinate multiple fan groups. When the goal was reached so quickly, Adam got way too enthusiastic and set the goal at 320,000. A lot of fans - together and individually - were involved in that heavy lift - with zero involvement with Q. I remember a frantic fandom and some good fic. Anyway, this is the only time Q's Norma Desmond routine has irked me. I don't mind when she inserts herself into Adam/Queen/politics/everyone's history or claims sekrit sources, but I think it's beyond self-serving to claim Adam got in front of an already existing effort and that she was - like the old spider that she is - at the center of it all. Well, it is post-truth Amerika... I think I'm unusually bothered because that was a shiny moment in fandom and she's getting her crazy cooties all over it lol.
My thought was to set up something similar to the campaign we did with the first CharityWater birthday campaign. As you may recall, this campaign was started by fans and was a viral campaign. I set it up back in the Planet Fierce era and 7 fangroups got together and supported it, then Adam adopted the campaign and made it official. No fangroup owned it and very few people had any idea who set it up. I recommend a similar approach.
Oops I meant Adam's first announced goal was $29,000 because it was his 29th birthday on Jan 29. I'm not good w numbers just like Q3 is not good with reality
That is vile! I remember Adam decided on the project because he's Aquarius (the water bearer). I wasn't involved in any way so don't know how the goal was reached, but that she would claim to be the master mind is so self serving it's not even comedic anymore,
She's really full of shit. I remember one year she wanted to drive the bd charity already and set up a charity water thing (years after the 29th bd one) and it went nowhere and shortly afterwards Adam announced something different (can't remember what). She's super shady imo.
She just repeated that she was the one who set up the campaign
We did this three time before -- I set up the CharityWater Birthday campaign -- not Adam. He adopted it after we raised a lot of money. And we also did a campaign in his name for twice on DonorsChoose. None of these was an issue.
Unfortunately most of the older members have moved on so there are not many left to really call her out.
She's just lying or, to be kind, rewriting history. I think she often believes her lies. I had been an intern w AID a couple of years earlier and they connect w a lot of NGOs. I remember all this because CW wasn't The Big Water ngo at the time and I was really excited when Adam announced he was donating his birthday to them. Check his twitter and other original sources. Q3 did not say, hey, I've set up this account w this org, give to it and then Adam latched on. She had to look up the website to post info after Adams announcement. You can Twitter search charitywater and adam for his 29th and see tweets from well known, respected members of fandom right after his announcement. (As well as the wealthy cray contributer Q hated - cray v cray lol), I left that that place a long time ago and have no desire to fight w her, just so sick of her shit and the receipts are out there. The small group that remains clearly never calls her out - I see some of them on Twitter tho. tl;dr Q3 lies to make herself seem Very Important - it must be a day with a y. (God, I srsly never realized how Trump-like she is... wow)
Small point of order, Adam did not get "way too enthusiastic" and set the goal higher. Fans BEGGED him to do it. People were pissed because the initial money was raised in a couple of hours so by the time people got home from work it was already over and they wanted to be involved. A bagillionty people on Twitter (& the fan club I think) were asking Adam to up it to $290 000 and he was super reluctant to do it. When he finally did raise the number he posted that it seemed like an incredible number to him, but so many people were asking for it he made the change.
