:/

i hope that whoever made the decision used something besides glambert opinions and glambert-influenced stream counts

i'd be surprised if they didn't, they can look at streams/sales when adjusted over time too, not just at first (when some glamberts wanted ALN over GT so streamed it). also in the big glamberty sites like atop more ppol were pulling for TOH anyways, so i think that ~group has always been divided.

i think seasonally it works better too, and if it does well, then toh can possibly be a spring/summer single.

the only practical issue i see is that like gt there is a clean and explicit version so streams and itunes ranking will be split again.

ugh, that sounds awful!

I'm so glad I live in Germany, so I'll get the 'fuck' on my radio :D (if it'll be a single here too)

it makes a big (negative) difference in the tone of the song for aln (moreso than it does for gt imo)

maybe they'll just have empty space instead of using damn. probably not but ia fuck works a lot better.

They might have 2 radio edits. For Tove Lo's Talking Body there a version that's

If you love me right, we *blankspace* for life

And another one that's

If you love me right, we love for life

seasonally, it only works better if the next single is released after qal b/c it'll end up being a winter single if it grows as slowly as gt. toh is a perfect late summer/early fall song

so another song that'll look like it's underperforming in terms of sales. yay

but toh wouldn't just jump up there either, actually it might move more slowly because it's more unusual than ALN and end up first being on ppol's radar in the winter if it was released this fall.

who knows, you might want to give it a chance though ;) i'm hoping that GT creeps a bit higher too however long it takes before bowing out.

i didn't word what i was trying to say well. whatever is released is probably going to be a slow grower. i think if that release happens sooner (i.e. if radio kills gt today) toh would've been a better choice seasonally for late summer/early fall. if the release happens later (i.e. they wait until after the qal shows/a release sometime in mid october) aln might make more sense b/c it would work better as a winter single

eta i don't really need to give it a chance. i like the song. i'm not going to start my own #teamtoh campaign to try to push my ~favorite to radio

ia with this pretty much. i also think that even when GT is over, the next single isn't necessarily going to be released right away unless it is done on both formats, and even then it might wait a little or the radio impact date/hard push might not be until Adam is back in the US even if there are starter stations.

even though i rank toh slightly above aln as a personal fave aln instantly seemed like one of the strongest single candidates (along with rumors) just because of the hooky chorus and because it's really easy to relate to. but i get that personal opinion and ears are gonna differ.

i love the chorus and the melody of it. i also agree about it being more relateable. out of all the songs this is the one i sing along to and it seems like an easy song people can sing along to and relate to which is important if it is going to catch on.

Yeah, I noticed that, so I was kind of suprised to hear that they pushed for ALN. And those that didn't want TOH were wondering why TISI couldn't be the single, lol.

I love TOH (especially live when he uses After Hours as an intro since AH is almost not a song), but after seeing the crowd reaction to ALN at the Auckland iHeart concert, I was leaning toward ALN as a single. It's angsty lyrically, but the music is so bouncy and happy and it's fun to sing along. I hope if ALN does well, that TOH will be single #3. It's such a good song.
