for me real american biscuits are a savory thing so just butter is perfect
scones are naturally dry but good ones (i.e. not starbucks) are amazing. there's a bakery near me that makes all kinds of incredible varieties like plum-almond-chocolate or ginger-peach, whatever stuff is in season. ugh so good
no one can explain to me why i cannot find a decent (non sweet, non flat) biscuit in amurica north of the mason-dixon. it's grant's last revenge - well played sir
scones are pretty solid compared to american biscuits. but they are just the right amount of sweet and good with toppings. but i'm not into ones with currants. idg the point of currants.
also, red lobster cheese biscuits are greasy and delicious.
the only scones I've had were dry. I'll definitely try real ones when I go to London because I'm guessing they're better.

srsly tho, they're really good lol and the key is whipping cream (i mean whipping cream in the dough, not whipped on top)
