slow day in idol land?

Interesting...I was actually thinking yesterday about who will get dropped this year. I actually thought Adam and Kris were strong possibilities.

Innerscope scouted Adam Lambert before Idol but he went under contract. Then they tried to buy out his contract without success. Guaranteed Innerscope is one of the ones courting him now.

I have a lot of trouble believing that Interscope was going to offer Adam Lambert a contract before AI.  I remember the rumor about buying out his contract, but that seemed to grow out of the news that 19 was leaving Sony and partnering with UMG.

Looking at Interscope's list of artists, and at what Adam was doing before AI, I just don't see how this is something that is credible.

Even the things that are posted here make the rumor sound like it's just fans wanting Adam to leave RCA.  I think it was the same case with the other Interscope rumors that were spread last year.

I also think the most vulnerable to be dropped are Adam Lambert and Kris Allen.  All it takes is the latest CD not selling.  That's what happened to Kelli Pickler, even though she had success with both her debut and follow-up CD's.  But the 3rd was a struggle and she was cut.

It could also be that Jimmy I decided not to pursue it if he was told Adam was going on Idol. He probably knew about how the contestants are locked into the contracts they sign with the show.

I could definitely see Interscope having interest in Adam, if he parted ways with RCA, although I wonder if they would hesitate at all given the lack of interest he is currently getting on Pop radio. I would think that if they have any interest in him, they have seen at least some of the promo he has gotten. I wouldn't be surprised if other labels had at least some interest in him as well. But unless his deal with RCA is actually up, none of them can really do much more than maybe send out some subtle feelers to Adam's mgmt to see if he might be interested in switching labels.

It's sad how we're talking about music now. Just another commodity, traded on the market. It's like we're talking about cattle, and which are going to be stamped grade AA.
