Ok, time for a rant. I haven't done one in a while.

And don't worry Lindsay, this is not aimed at a particular person or group. This is aimed at a theme/trend.

Ok, this evening's rant is about the commercialization of religion.

First off, I would just like to say WTF???

When did it become "trendy" to be religious and have a statue of the Buddha in your house or crucifixes hanging on your walls??

What is up with this complete demoralization of something so beautiful and wonderful? Can't you people come up with anything better to make a profit off of??

Sure, it's nice to be able to buy nice stuff on the internet, like Buddhist decorations, or Jewish decorations. And maybe the decorations aren't that bad. Afterall, it's nice to decorate the home in the manner of your faith.

But I get PISSED when things are made and sold to be trendy, and then SUPPORTED!!

Please, do not stamp a crucifix onto underwear or t-shirts so that people can be trendy and try not to stamp the Buddha onto underwear and pajamas so people can be trendy. If you haven't noticed yet, it annoys people to NO END!

And sure, this hasn't been done to much to Judaism, but just you wait. Give it another 30 years. They already have Jewish reggae (Matisyahu) and Jewish rap (Jew Da Maccabi).

And sure, people may say it's not bad right now. But maybe they're not aware of shit like The Buddha Bar.

So, in summary, if you have to market something religious, do it in a way where you at least seem like you care. And not just about the money, but the religion itself. I.e. don't stamp religious imagery onto boxers.

Some people just don't have any shame...
