So.
For years now I've been planning a tattoo in my head. I haven't actually put any concrete images out there before now, because it's very personal to me. I've put doing it off partly for financial reasons - it's gonna be big and therefore expensive - partly for practical reasons - the only people I personally know who have been tattooed in the DFW area were done in college - and partly because I've always felt it was missing something.
Yesterday evening I figured out what was missing. I laid it out on paper before going to bed last night, and while I can't draw for shit, it's right. This morning I did an image search on Google, and quickly came up with something that should be sufficient to give an artist a pretty concrete idea of where to begin.
And now, being a glutton for punishment, I'm putting it out there for the few people of my very small world to see and comment on if they so choose.
This image has the style I'm looking for. Vine trailing down my back from left shoulder to right hip. Roses increasing in size from buds to blooms as it descends. Reds and greens... if I'm going to do this, it's going to be in color.
In the blank area of my right shoulder above the vine, the text, "To pick a rose"
In the blank area of my lower left back below the vine, the text, "you ask your hands to bleed"
Today Lee and Kim are going to get tattoos of their own done, and I'm planning to go with and check out the shop. If I like what I see... and from pics on the web I probably will... I'll be going back sometime in the next few months to get my own work underway. The time is right; I'm done waiting.
