Hear Us Creator

Hear us Creator,
whose breath resounds throughout the universe,
open a space deep within where we may feel your whisper.
Come now and guide us on the path
of nourishment, illumination and delight
in the everyday, as it is in the Always.
Free our fingers from their grasp of hurt, fear and anger,
so that you may weave in us a pattern of wholeness
that shines of your creation.
Help us to balance self and community,
for all to taste the sweetness of life.
You alone hold the music that vibrates
between and within,
calling and reminding
of the way back home.
Amen.

I wrote this after attending a spiritual evening at my church where a nun who has been studying the "Our Father" prayer spoke to us about the original wording in Aramaic (the language Jesus spoke.) She explained what the actual words Jesus taught his disciples meant, and how the translation into Greek and then Latin and then English did to the original meaning. That night at home, I looked at all the translations and came up with my own version of the prayer based on what Jesus' words originally meant, and how to portray that in English, being inspired by inner refection of all I know in life and spirituality.
