Some stupid-ass groupmate ruined my birthday last night. I slept at 2 and I still feel awful. Have some Zach and Charlie fluff so we can both feel better.
Note: Charlie Morgan and Zachary Webb belong to me and my friend-twin respectively. They are very adorable. We love them to death.

Zach ran his fingers through Charlie's hair and marveled at the softness. The first time he'd seen it, he'd been doubtful of its actual texture, but now he could solemnly swear it was as fluffy as it looked. To his delight, Charlie actually liked it when he played with his hair. Stroking through the strands always made the boy droopy eyed, his entire body falling as lax as a sleepy kitten. It was adorable. Zach wasn't even sure if Charlie knew the effect the action had on him. Probably not. Charlie had always been the kind of person who needed to be thinking about something. Zach lived for the moments when Charlie dropped his guard around him, something he hadn't failed to notice was happening more and more often.
Like now.
He glanced at his companion, whom he had surreptitiously nestled between his arm on the back of the sofa and his own body as he sat next to him. (Charlie was usually so shy about physical touch, even if he obviously liked cuddling. Trying to get his arm around him was as complicated as putting lacey decor on a cake.) Charlie had gone silent in the last few minutes, when he'd been speaking to him clearly enough - though maybe not as loud as usual - earlier. One look was all it took to see his closed eyes and slightly parted lips as his chest rose and fell in slow, deep breaths. As if to affirm the fact, a soft snore rumbled in his throat.
Zach smiled, letting a finger trail down from Charlie's hairline to his cheek. Charlie had been in the middle of recounting yet another project that had kept him up at two in the morning the other night. He hadn't heard of him getting any break since then either. He tilted his head, eyeing Charlie with a little concern. That position didn't look comfortable though, even if he was leaning against his arm.
That thought gave him an idea. Gently, he shifted the boy, slipping the arm on the sofa behind his back and maneuvering himself until Charlie's head rested on his chest.
Charlie stirred.
"Shh." Zach held him with his free arm, while the one behind his back returned to its previous position, his fingers back in Charlie's hair. "Go back to sleep."
"M'not..." Charlie protested weakly, chestnut eyes hazy under his lashes. "Not..." Zach's fingers traced swirling lines on his scalp. The words slipped away from him, his body relaxing unwittingly into his embrace.
Zach laughed softly. "Go back to sleep," he repeated, combing a few stray hairs out of the way, so that he had a clear view of Charlie's almost-pout fading away.
"Someone'll... see..." Charlie was nothing if not stubborn.
"No one's going to see," Zach reassured him, his fingers caressing Charlie's cheek. The boy leaned into the touch, too sleepy to keep his distant charade up. Finally, his eyes fluttered shut. In a few moments, he was breathing deeply again, cradled in his partner's arms.
Feeling a bit daring, Zach leaned down and pressed a kiss to his head. "I love you," he whispered to the silence.
The silence said nothing back.
