i am cold for the first time since i have been in australia

So, this entire past week here at James Cook University is called SWOTVAC, which means, study wihtout teachers vacation.  (how lame...)and there are super quiet hours, and people are really intense about studying. If you are talking too loudy in the hall way you will get fined on the spot! i kinda think that people need to lighten up a litlte bit....but i do understand because exams here are worth like 80% of your grade in the class.  So i have been doing nothing all week except for sitting around, watching movies, and forcing myself to read over notes in an attempt to study.  its been pretty boring. and its been so cold and windy that its too cold to go to the beach.  which is not normal weather around here, it has actually felt a lot like fall in Maine.  Cool crisp air, and lots of wind.  But there are no leaves falling to the ground, and when i look out my window i see palm trees.  Today it finally started to warm up again, and the sun was wonderful and warmed my balcony and room up so i opened my windowns again!  But tomorrow i have to do some serisous study because my first exam is on tuesday morning, and i should probably not fail it.  then i have another one on thursday, and on saturday (WHO HAS EXAMS ON A WEEKEND!!!), and then my last one the following friday the 22nd of june! which is also my last day in australia!

i can not believe that it is already June, and that my time here is coming to a close.  everday i am getting more and more ready to come home, but at the same time i dont want to leave this place behind.   i dont think i will ever get tired of seeing kangorros and wallabys outside my dorm room! its just still so cool to me! and i really hope i can make it back to this country again in the near future.

The next two weeks i dont have too much planned except for getting to the beach, and hanging out around townsville and campus before i leave on the 23rd! Nic and Lauren (two americans i have become very good friends with) are traveling around New Zealand from June 23rd-July2nd, so we are starting to plan out that trip, and what we plan to do.  all we know is that we are living in a "Wicked Van" and driving (on the left side!) around to where ever we want to go.  These vans are old VW vans, that have beds and tables in the back, and litlte sinks and a fridge so you can pretty much live in the van.  And they are all painted in really funny ways.  Some have disney thems, or really absurd sayings.  One i saw in townsville recently said "Never trust anything that bleeds for 5 days and doesnt die".... so we have no idea what they one we get will say, hopefully nothing TOO offensive.  We all have very little money left, so we are going to have to get creative, but we are exctied, and i am looking forward to having one last crazy adventure on this side of the world before i have to return to reality.

so now i am off to shower and probably put long pants on again since then sun has gone down and its cold out.
