Best wedding toast ever!

Mike and Diana, I don't think your wedding party can pull this off in such a short time, but as I was working on the ceremony, I found this.

The best wedding toast ever... set to music

Have you made sure you're legal to perform ceremonies in NY? I wouldn't want you to do it and end up invalidating their marriage.

From my experience, NY is one of the stupid states that won't recognize online ordinations...FYI.

On a side note, OMFG that link rocked.

We checked it. He's good :-) Thanks though for the thought (that could have really sucked!)

Really? That's awesome. I'm ordained too...is it just your locality that lets him or did you have to check statewide? Just curious.

I'm excited for you guys...it's coming up soon isn't it?

Indeed it is! We're heading up NEXT weekend to start getting ready for the 4th. I can't believe after all this planning that it is actually here!

As Diana said, I'm legal. (under New York Domestic Relations Law Section 11, subsection 1.)

I am "a member of the clergy or minister who is not authorized by a governing church body but who has been chosen by a spiritual group to preside over their spiritual affairs". Because the wedding is not occurring in NYC, I don't have to register, but just need to have my ordination papers in case should anyone ask. I have a copy that I carry with me.

In my process of getting my paperwork in order, I learned something interesting. One of the yardsticks that judges use to determine legitimacy of a marriage is whether the people being married believed that the person marrying them was able to solemnize the marriage.

See, that's where my township interprets the law strangely then because they require you to actually have a congregation and place of worship in order to be "legit".
