gearing up for the full moon party! have acquired ourselves a posse of hilarious drunken brits, and a SMOKING HOT south african. mmm tom. we've been getting to know each other quite well over the past few days, and his friends are hilarious. goodtimes! this month is the 20th anniversary of the full moon party, so it's going to be 4 days of madness! kim and i have dubbed it our own soundwave - madness on a beach surrounded by friends, except we have a bungalow instead of a tent. not gonna lie, i'm not sad about missing soundwave at all, this trip is a thousand times better.
we arrived at hat rin yesterday in the PISSING RAIN. actually, it was fine when we got off the boat from koh tao, and we got a taxi to ban tai to look for a guesthouse. decided it sucked there, then kim fell over in a hole on the beach, with pack and all. hehe it's funny now but at the time it was less amusing. that event has cemented kim's hate for dogs, there's a lot of them around here.
eventually found the main road again (no thanks to the guesthouse lady who decided she didn't speak english after we said we weren't staying there.) then walked for awhile... couldn't find an effing taxi. it started to fucking PISS down rain so we stopped in a restaurant with an owner who said he was going to flag us a taxi. waited there for about 45 minutes for the rain to stop and chatted to a fellow canadian from edmonton. (fyi - this place is crawling with canadians and brits although everyone STILL asks "are you american" instead of are we canadian. they'd offend a hell of a lot less people if they just skipped the stupid american question.)
anyhoo, finally got a taxi, which happened to have THE FUCKING WEIRDEST GUY EVER in it. i think he was american and he was the hugest travel snob i've ever met. which was weird cos he was clearly a giant hippy and his finger and toe nails were like 2 inches long. fucking disgusting. he rattled on and on about his life while we suffocated on his rank b.o. and then he asked us how much money we had with us! wtf. we were definitely not sad when that ride was over. now we're at hat rin (where the full moon party is) and found a super-cute bungalow which is SO CHEAP!! everyone was scaring us with stories of paying at least 800B a night during the full moon party, and we're only paying 400B. awesome!
in other news, we're both outrageously tanned. i think we're going to get tattoos today, although kim doesn't know it yet. hehe
