Most people seem very rude. It could be a cultural thing, but no one understands °customer service.” Can be rather frustrating at times.
Many, many many people carry fanny packs. Around their waist, over their shoulder, across their chest. It’s very strange.
Once again, there are dogs and cats EVERYWHERE. All over the place, all the time, everywhere. It’s a definite problem.
Also prevalent is crappy techno. It’s like their music of choice. Including American techno with disturbingly dirty lyrics.
They have soccer fields in every town like we have baseball diamonds.
People are more openly gay here. Nobody seems to notice. It’s rather cute.
Their method of speaking is more assertive. This is the best way we’ve found to explain it. Everything sounds like a statement, whereas in the states, many people make statements that sound like questions. And they talk over each other all the time at top volume.
For our last hour in Greece, we dined. We attempted to find the most normal Greek cuisine: Gyros (yes, Ashley ate a gyro-well, about ¾ of a gyro and Kyle ate the rest when it got too meaty) and frappes. Many many people here drink frappes. We saw them the whole week, wondered what they were, so we tried it. It was the worst idea and the biggest waste of money ever. Get this: Instant Nescafe Coffee combined with condensed powdered milk and whipped into a cold shake. Looks, smells and tastes like mud. Seriously, it’s disturbing. So we left Greece on a puzzled note, wondering “why?” Any thoughts are appreciated.
