of new life, and the bother of neatening.

those who follow these things will know that about a year and a half ago, i dropped a zen micro on the floor of my lab. i came across its body this afternoon (after a lengthy motorcycle ride around town!) and an idea ocurred to me...replace the hd with compactflash memory! apparently it's been done, and it works, so i'm gonna do this. only opting for 1gb, but even so, i'm gonna have two fully functioning mp3 players if this goes well.

Am i just possibly nerdy enough to carry around two mp3 players at once? only time will tell.

yay for posts with only personal relevance!

*edit*

the most unbelievable thing just happened. on a whim, i googled "zen micro frozen" and came up on a thread about people with the same problem who solved it by jolting the jammed harddrive with a few sharp whacks against a dresser. so i spent about five minutes turning the thing on and off and banging it on a table, feeling like an idiot, but then it fucking BOOTED UP.

i'm now listening to "wheels" by Cake, the very song i was listening to when i broke this mp3 player almost two years ago!!

HOLY FUCK.

hey, i now have two sweet-ass mp3 players, heh. 30 and 5g/radio. sweet.

i'd also forgotten how good the sound is on these creative players. way better than ipod.

i just don't believe this.

*editedit*

oh, wait...that means i just blew sixteen bucks on a card i don't need anymore. well, maybe i'll break it again, even more. i'm so exasperated by everything.
