That was easily the worst drive I've ever had. I'm beyond mortified.

On the way to Ruthie's house to hear her rehearsal, I nearly got shuntered out of the way by a police car rushing around a bend up behind me because the cars on the other side were slow on the uptake and didn't make room like I was trying to do (not an easy thing on the sharp end of a bend).

Then on right-turning into the very narrow road leading to Ruthie's drive a truck slipped in in front of me- and stopped dead, leaving me sticking out a little on the main and VERY busy road of Edgware. And THEN the truck signalled that he wanted to reverse. So there I was, waiting for the almost impossible: to do a reverse around a corner maneuver back into a ridiculously busy road, which I eventually did (eventually) without troubling other motorists.

And then I did a near 360 degree turn around the roundabout to get back to square one (severly pissing off others because it's a small roundabout). And found that the truck hadn't moved, but PARKED on the side, leaving me to have to squeeze past and drive up on the curb: not good for the tyres.

And this was just getting there- and this I found all very funny. The getting back just totally shot my nerves...

A rather large family carrier was parked just past Ruthie's gates. This alone would have taken me a great many forward-and-backward movements to get around (whichever bastard parked on that yellow line, I'll be after their blood...), in order to avoid the bin and the fence and the wall and the other cars and the family carrier. But there was another car parked just to the left of the gate. I STILL could have shuffled out, though with even more maneuvers, but then there was another family convertible trying to turn into the narrow space I was trying to get out of.  NOT. GOING. TO. WORK. So after much, much shuffling, active family carrier parked in the only space that I could have moved into, and other car went back to its original position (which was very perturbing because the family in that car were just sitting there for some reason and watching my progress), and the others buggered off. Still no sign of whoever had yellow-line parked the first family carrier. Worst of all, I had to call home for help... by the time my dad got to the scene one of the blocking cats had gone and the guy from the family waiting in the car had even very kindly offered to give me a hand, but I was in no mental state for the final shuffle. Granted, it took dad eleven forwards and backwardsing (I counted) to get out himself and he nearly went into the bin that was not so strategically placed right in front of the driveway, but I still felt like a total failure for having to ask for help. After getting out of that bend once and for all I took over and drove home, which was, for once, incident-free.

Cars are dangerous, expensive, noisy and filthy. Why does everyone use them again?
