toe toe toe toe

got back from the podiatrist at 5:30. it wasn't too bad. my mom gave me a darvocet to "calm me down," but nothing can ever take away that fear i have before the needles go in. they had this cold spray stuff (ethyl chloride) that made your feet ice cold and they shoot you up with lidocaine, not novocaine, when your feet are cold so it's harder to feel it. i got four shots around the base of the toe, and then dr. kesler went straight to it. he grabbed one little tool and pushed up both sides of the nail out from under the flesh, then he got some little scissors and cut them out. each piece was about 3 millimeters wide, and there was a lot more blood than i thought there would be for just one toe. after that, he filed down the sides (a very strange feeling when the toe is completely numb) so there were no jagged edges. put some ointment on and bandaged the thing and i was good to go. he got me a prescription for my athletes foot, but i can't really start that for a couple of weeks, because i have to soak my foot twice a day. i took two darvocets at around 11 for no real reason except to help me sleep, but i stayed up anyway. i think they're wearing off, so i'm gonna go to bed before the drowsiness goes away.
