The issue is not that Wolverine is "the dangerous guy", but rather that Scott is a massive prick. And that is why no one* can understand why you would pick him as the one to "bring home".
*Okay, fine. It's why I can't understand. Cyclops is not a "good guy", he is a jackass. You don't want to be with Wolverine, fine, but don't pretend it's because Scott is all goodness and light 'cuz that light is totally just his eye beams.
