I'm also very impressed with your animation work, you're improving quickly and your latest storyboard (the one with a man dancing with the ghost of his loved one) was touching and worked very well for a short animation. You have a great potential.
Don't worry about drawing classes, as long as you draw you will improve! The more the faster! Copy photographs and cartoons from the masters! Yes, drawing classes help a lot because you have a teacher to point out your mistakes and teach you new techniques and if you have to opportunity take 'em! But don't think you can't become an awesome artist without them. I saw many self-taught artists with breathtaking art.
Yeah, education is expansive :/ . One of the reasons I didn't enter college this year is because I didn't want my parents to spend money on a major I didn't want and would most likely give up or change... I don't know how competitive the animation market though... do they select the animators based on how nice their art looks? Or the college they went to? What's their criteria?
Ugh, it always hurts when we have a friend and we can't be there to support him... It feels so bad but all I can do is send virtual affection, sadly, sometimes this isn't quite the same as being there next to them, present... The people I have on my Plurk list (like you!) are so supportive and wonderful, I would give them all IRL hugs if I could and be there through the hard times. I understand how you feel.
About being ignored... sometimes it's even more hurtful than a critic because it might mean people are not even paying attention or don't care enough to bother. However, I always say to myself "it's because there's nothing to be said, dummy!!". I also read tons of plurks and in some of them I don't know how to answer. But! When it's something personal and/or depressing people deserve at least one answer...so you're right about telling people how you feel about it.
I sincerely hope everything gets better for you. Don't be afraid to be confident about yourself, you're an amazing creative person! I truly enjoy talking to you.
On a final note, here's a picture of a person that went from absolute beginner artist to god-tier anime artist in just four years: http://i.imgur.com/lvBOn.png I hope it inspires to keep working on your art and to never give up on it!
Thanks a ton, Dulce. <3 It's always great to hear that people are impressed with my work, especially when I haven't been at it for very long at all. And even though I hear the "keep at it" line very often, it's nice to see some real solid evidence for it too.
