Chapter 1 ~ Chapter 2 ~ Chapter 3 ~ Chapter 4

The drive to Starbucks is quiet, aside from the quiet humming of the car and the almost inaudible sound of the stereo.  Suddenly, she starts singing quietly and at first I thought she was singing along with the radio.  Listening carefully, I notice it's a different song.  I'm so concentrated on her voice that I don't notice the car stopping or the fact that I was staring.  She waves a hand in front of my face to get my attention.

"Hayley? Is everything okay?" she asks, sounding slightly concerned.

I blink rapidly a few times, trying to clear my mind, then blush deep crimson.  "U-um... I didn't realize that you sang...  You have a beautiful voice."

She chuckles quietly and shakes her head.  "I sing, but not often.  More of a hobby than anything, I guess.  But shall we go inside?"  I nod unhook my seatbelt before I can make a fool out of myself.  We meet up at the front of the vehicle and begin the short journey to the front door.  Her hand brushes mine and I duck my head to hide the blush slowly creeping up.

We wait in line, and when we get to the front she asks what I want.  "Grande green shaken iced tea, please," I tell the person at the counter.  Cassadee orders her drink and I start to pull out my wallet.  She places a hand on mine and I give her a questioning look.

"Put that thing away, this is on me."  I smile and nod.  After she pays and we get our drinks, we find a small table in the corner of the cafe.

"So...," I start, thinking of something to say, but my mind is blank.

"You're friends with Brendon Urie, right?" she asks, and I nod my head in response.  "He's a cutie, my friend is crushing on him really bad."  She chuckles quietly and shakes her head at her thoughts and I tilt my head in confusion.

"Who's your friend?" I question and she smiles.

"Do you know Sisky?"  I shake my head.  "Um... Adam Siska?" she tries again, and it still doesn't ring a bell.  "Well, he's a sweetie.  He's convinced Brendon is an angel and he's head over heels apparently."

"Does he know that Bren is dating Ryan Ross?" I ask.

She gapes at me.  "No way!  I thought they were just friends!"  I laugh.

"Sure, if friends randomly make-out with each other in the middle of the halls, then I suppose they are friends."

She looks thoughtful for a moment, then grins.  "Do you have any... friends?"

I shake my head slowly.  "Not like that, no.  Do you?"  She, too, smiles and shakes her head.  I inwardly sigh with relief before thinking how that's possible.

"How is that possible?" I voice my thoughts, and she looks confused.  "Look at you, who wouldn't want to be with you?"

"It's not a question of whether or not people want to be with me, it's a question of whether or not I want to be with them."  The look she gives me sends chills up my spine, and I try and shake the feeling.  I can't help but shake the fact that the look she gives me seems to be very pointed.  Like she was trying to hint at something.  Yet again, I attempt to shake the feeling.

"You're friends with Gabe Saporta, right?" I ask, trying to change the subject.

She shrugs.  "Sort of.  We're not close like you and Brendon are, but we're acquainted.  Then again, who isn't acquainted with the infamous Gabriel Saporta?"  I laugh at that, because she is very right.  "I hear you hit him earlier."

I roll my eyes.  "In my defense, he deserved it.  He called Brendon a fag, and nobody, I don't care who you are, says that about my friends," I say in response.  "Besides, he sure is one to talk," I mumble so quietly, I don't think she hears me.

"You know he's gay?" she asks, slightly shocked.  I nod and she grins.  "Finally, someone I can talk to about Gabe and his hypocrisy!  I think there's something going on between him and William Beckett."

My eyes widen at that.  There's no way... William is shy, quiet and anti-social, whereas Gabe is overly self-confident, loud, and the most popular guy in school.  It can't be true...

As if reading my mind, Cassadee continues.  "I know, it sounds completely impossible.  But next time you're in the same room as the two of them, watch the way they act.  Gabe will wink at Will, and Will will lower his head with this massive grin and his face the colour of your hair."  I laugh at that, because the thought of someone's face going the same colour as my hair is really rather comical.

"I'll keep my eye out for that," I say, still chuckling.

We sit in a comfortable silence for a few minutes sipping on our drinks.  "Can I ask you a personal question?" she asks me suddenly, and I nod while chewing on my lip nervously.  "What made you realize you were into girls?"  I choke on my drink and start coughing and she gives me a look of concern.  "Are you alright?"

I nod slowly and wipe the tear from my eye that had escaped due to my coughing fit.  "I, uh... Don't know?  I just...  um...  I guess it just h-happened?" I reply quietly.

She nods and she looks as though she's contemplating something.  "What do you think of me?" she questions and I stare at her, trying to figure out if this is some sort of set up or something.  I simply shrug, not really trusting my voice at the moment.  Then, I think back to what she had said earlier...  It's not a question of whether or not people want to be with me, it's a question of whether or not I want to be with them.  She pouts a little and plays with her straw.  "Did I miss something?  All of last year you kept looking at me and blushing whenever I caught you.  The way you acted just made me think that maybe you liked me or something."

I look up at her and see plain curiosity in her gaze.  Taking a deep breath, I find all the courage in me and quietly mumble, "Of course I like you.  Who doesn't?"

I'm looking down by the time I finish and next thing I know, her hand is resting on mine waiting for me to look up.  Finally, after several awkward moments, I look up to see her smiling at me.  "I like you, too, Hayls," she whispers before leaning forward and pressing her lips to mine gently.  I gasp quietly and freeze, not quite sure if this is a dream or not.  The kiss ends just as quickly as it started and I bite my lip, not quite sure what to say.

"Well that was..." I think of words to say but my mind is in a haze.

"We'll work on it," she laughs.  "But for now, how would you like to go to the movies on Friday night?"

I instantly perk up and nod quickly.  "T-that would be just... Yeah, wow. I'd love that."

She laughs again and kisses me again, but this time I kiss her back eagerly.  When we pull away, I'm blushing like crazy and she has a goofy grin on her face.  I could definitely get used to this.
