Wait till you have a bunch of little kids and try to keep track of their gloves.
I have trouble keeping track of socks after doing a laundry. Usually there is one left stuck inside the dryer.

I seem to be hung up on this lost glove story. My wife lost one expensive glove on a bus in Paris. I do remember when I our kids were little she had their mittens on the string run through the sleeves of their coats as mentioned by em yrt ( ... )
