I need some advice...

I have found myself in a dilemma and I need some advice and/or other points of view.

About a week ago I started a Tumblr blog so I could share some of the nekkid pix I've collected over the years. I had discovered that Tumblr was a GREAT place to get nekkid pix, so I decided it was a good excuse to "get in on the action" so to speak, and it also gave me a reason to go back through my pix collection. I've not kept it organized and there are MANY that just need deleted.

Anyway, not only am I posting pix I've saved, I'm also reblogging pix others have posted. It seems that's one of the cool features about Tumblr. Well, when I got up today I found I had a message about one of the pix I reblogged last night. The person says they are a friend of the person in the photo and that they know the friend wouldn't want the photo reposted. He asked that I remove it. Ok, not an unreasonable request, for sure, but there's a few things that seem off.

First off, a friend requesting the removal instead of the person himself. If I found a photo of a friend on a blog I would message the friend and let THEM make the request. That just seems more appropriate.

Second, the photo in question doesn't show the person's face. Yes, this is a minor point, but when you have people posting pix where they just put a black bar over their eyes and expect anonymity, not being able to see ANY of the face offers much more protection against identification. Which also somewhat begs the question, how did this guy know it was his friend to begin with, unless he has seen the photo before, OR he's seen other nekkid photos of the friend to be able to recognize him. And this guy already mentioned the "if you don't want your nekkid photos passed around then don't put them on the internet" thing. So while that's a legitimate point, I can't bring it up since he has already.

Third, I was the 38th person to reblog this photo. I checked about half of the other blogs that reblogged it, and found that the photo was still on those blogs. I had planned to check them all, but I was much too easily sidetracked and I didn't have the time to get that sidetracked.

So... now I'm conflicted. Do I play the "nice guy" and remove it without question? Do I reply asking if the guy has contacted the other 37 people about removing the photo and THEN decide if I should remove it or not? Or do I play the "tough shit" card and explain that he's just a friend and not the person in the photo, the photo's already been reblogged 37 other times, and that if he didn't want it on the internet he shouldn't have sent the damn things out to begin with and that I'm NOT taking it down?

I've thought about how I would feel if it were my photo. (Yes, there are nekkids of me floating around the net. No, I dont' know where. No, I no longer have copies as I deleted them out of self-loathing years ago.)

I wouldn't ask that it be removed. For one, the face is hidden. Two, it's a pretty hot photo. And three, it's been reblogged so many times. I don't see it being worth the effort to try and get it removed. And it was originally posted on March 24th, 2011, so who knows how many people just saved it, and have uploaded it elsewhere that's not Tumblr.

But what do you guys think?
