Notes: W-ATSUSHIS ARE MY ACTUAL OTP OF OTPS IN D2. But I find it easier to write my OTHER otps in D2. And Arai is my main bias in D2 too. But I find it easier to write Mae and Yuuki who are secondary biases OTL Apart from writing them a bit into Binan to Yajuu, this is my first serious effort in writing something nice for my ship :<

It was a slow and quiet afternoon and Shiramata had just started to shift lightly in his sleep.
Arai turned from his side of the bed and looked at him; he hadn’t woken up. Even though rays of the afternoon sun hovered playfully over his eyelashes, the younger boy with whom he shared the same name -and currently his bed as well- was still sleeping peacefully.
And he was beautiful, just like he always was. On his list of things hard to resist watching Shiramata do, watching him sleep was high, only placed second by watching him study. In contrast to himself Shiramata was diligent and a hard worker amongst many, and Arai always claimed the seat closer to him in a proximity that wouldn’t get in the way of his studying while he did so. Watching him do anything at all was precious in itself, but studying and sleeping were nearly sacred. Shiramata looked the best at such times, at least in Arai’s mind. He was so beautiful that most of the times he had a hard time restraining himself when he felt like tackling the other boy off his chair and roll onto the floor with his arms around him.
Now he leaned over him as he noticed the sunbeams coloring his lashes crimson; they’d stayed awake making flash cards for Shiramata’s upcoming exam until the early hours of the morning, and they had only managed to crawl into bed in the hopes that, since the next day they were both off, they would manage a long refreshing sleep until evening.
Yet Arai had woken up as the noon sunlight turned from yellow to orange, had made no effort to get out of bed or go back to sleep, only stayed as still as he could so that he wouldn’t wake Shiramata. Until the younger boy had started to shift and turn on his own, he’d intended to stay in place, but the way the sun played with the corners and the shadows on his face made it impossible to sit still now.
He leaned over and brushed his lips over his eyelids, once, twice, three times… Until Shiramata squeezed his eyes and then opened them, and he kissed his forehead instead.
“What are you doing…” Shiramata mumbled, a smile forming on his lips once the smell of Arai’s shampoo hit his nostrils- his hair was falling in his face and tickling his cheeks.
“I love watching you sleep but I love you more when you’re awake.” Came the reply from the older boy, still dragging his lips over his face, now stopping at the bridge of his nose, then at his temple, then at his cheekbone. “I couldn’t wait for you to wake up on your own, after all.”
“That’s not fair.” Shiramata protested, his arms suddenly coming out from underneath the light summer blanket and closing around Arai’s shoulders, holding him close. “You could have at least tied your hair.”
“I did, but it got loose in my sleep. Besides, it wouldn’t be fun otherwise.” He insisted, and before Shiramata could say anything again, he leaned in and kissed him, sealing his lips with his just as the beams from the sunset turned into every shade of red and blended with the redness on his face. He was cute, so very cute, blushing like that every time they kissed even though there were months since they’d started dating already. Progress had been made with things like leaving for and from work together, staying at each other’s places alone together for several nights and going out for meals without inviting others and there was no awkwardness… Yet kissing was still intimidating for Shiramata, it seemed, because even at such a moment that they were alone and sheltered from others’ eyes, he still couldn’t fight the blushing away. It was cute.
It was very cute.
Just like him.
