The exact same thing happened to me--originally it was clockwise, and i couldn't see it going counterclockwise at all until I focused and switched it, and then it went both ways almost equally (sometimes at will and sometimes not).

strangely, even with an amazing amount of trying i still can only see it rotate clockwise
