Jesus Christ, China is taking over the world. I've read about this and seen the numbers over the past few years, but I've never taken it seriously until now (just saw movie "Manufactured Landscapes" about the recent, awesome photography of Edward Burtynsky). China's on the way up, on an unfathomable scale. A classical education and Western culturing will be irrelevant in the progressive world. It seems like the issues of our generation will be islamic extremism and Chinese expansion, and into neither do I have any sort of conceptual access point. What the hell am I learning French for?
