A Melding of Two Things I Love

So.... Imagine my surprise when I found out today that Supernatural, my most favorite show in the world, was being turned into an anime. Yeah, that's right, an anime. (Which is pretty much one of my favorite things...) While I am sort of reserving judgment, it is being done by the Japanese studio Madhouse (who previously did - among other things - Death Note).

I am a fan of Death Note but fully recognize that not all animes (like TV shows) are created equal. I hope that they give it the time, attention, and care that it needs to be a successful adaptation. I know that one of the reasons I was originally drawn to Supernatural was because of its 'anime like' qualities. It contains many elements that are outside of normal US television. It uses vivid imagery, plays with folklore, and isn't afraid to question what is right and wrong. It blurs moral lines and embraces both the light and the dark.

It wont be out in Japan until January - but I'm crossing my fingers that it will quickly travel overseas to the US. I'm also wondering if they're going to try and get Jensen and Jared for the dubbed or if they'll recast. Can anyone else imagine Crispin Freeman as the YED?

What can I say besides, "It's like I'm Truman and the world is catering to my wildest fantasies. I am literally so happy I could die."
