Say- ooh la la

Woah, so Im not sure anyone would be reading this anyway, but i realized the other day that I have not updated in like 4 months. This is possibly due to the fact that RPI has eaten my face off. Awesome. My semester is over in a week- if I can get my term papers in by then. Lets see what has happened in the last few months?

Matt and I bought a house, he moved in, we have been trying to find a few hours here and there to work on it. Its not falling apart or anything, the previous owners just had terrible taste! I really am having a good time trying to fix the place up and I think it will be really fun to finally live there in May.

Thats another thing, May- dang. This past sunday it was 6 months till Im married. Ugh. So much to do. I am hoping that once school is over I will have the time to get a lot of the major stuff done- i.e. cake, hotels, honeymoon, etc. I have my dress, i have a caterer, tents, transportation, save the dates. Im not a total slacker, but the wedding has taken a complete back seat in the last month or 2. Im sure this will be the cause of stress and some journal entries in the future!

School has been good. A ton of freekin work, but good. My thesis was accepted for a conference on Pop Culture scheduled for March of next year, its in Boston and a bunch of other students from my class got in too so it should be fun. I have had to put my sub-culture/music studies on hold for the moment because they seem to think i need to expand more, study other religions as well as more fundamentalism. Thus, my term papers this semester are on the confluence of televangelism and infomercials (for media studies) and the consrtuction of gender in fundamnetalist purity campaigns (for rhetorical analysis). Im not sure I will ever revisit these topcs again, but i think both are publishable, or at least will be presentable for a conference. Next semester I am taking cultural studies, rhetoric of the photograph, rhetoric culture and technology, and media and persuasion. It should be a good semester. I work at the writing center for my TA-ship. its not a bad gig, I work 15 hours and see students for maybe 6 of them. Most of the time I just do my own work.

In church news, things are moving along. I am helping with youth group and we are really growing, which is great. Beyond that, I am trying to get the Social Justice mission off the ground, we are looking for a building and trying to raise money. Its busy for us right now because of the Christmas season, but we have extra help this year so hopefully all will go smoothly. last year we helped 53 kids and we are hoping to raise enoug money to help even more this year.

Things are really busy, but its all good and so i cannot complain. i have definitely had busy times in my life that were a lot worse than this! I am really working on trying to be thankful in all my circumstances... imnot sure if im doing the best job at that.

Hmm, anything else? Im sure there are other interesting things going on but nothing that comes to my mind at the moment.

Maybe I iwll update more? We'll see!

Peace.
kaitlyn.
