I found out yesterday that someone turned down their RPI offer, and since I was th grand #6, aka first in line for second round offers, I got the spot! I am super stoked- they told me a few weeks back that I was the only student admitted (in the 10 who got in) that did not already have a masters, and that the fact that the others may have been more "polished" than me played a large part. My advisor and the recruitment lady encouraged me to keep my head up and told me they were chearing for me, and yesterday they both called sooooo excited to tell me the news. So, for the nex 5 years I will be a student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, they will pay my 31,000/year tuition and give me 7,250 per semester as a stipend. Holy frick. It is so nice to not have to worry anymore. I am really happy.
The only way this week could get any better is if d McMahon showed up at my doorstep with a large check, balloons, and a camera crew.
For this and many reasons, by Wednesday I have already declared myself the winner of best week ever. Take it.
