Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: a good movie, even if there were some bits I would have liked to see and a few things I might have liked to go a bit differently, and miles better than Goblet of Fire, and hot damn, Imelda Staunton and Evanna Lynch are like the best things ever. And it was good. It was an actual cohesive movie, as opposed to Goblet of Fire, which was a bunch of scenes thrown together, some of which were quite good, but some of which were missing important bits and some of which weren't necessary at all and anyone who wasn't mentally filling in the gaps from memories of the book probably had difficulties understanding what was going on. Whereas with Order of the Phoenix, it's all perfectly understandable within the context of the movie. Which is good. Also, Imelda Staunton and Evanna Lynch are the best things ever.

(Did Remus get any lines, now that I think about it? I did like that he was the one to grab Harry after Sirius went through the veil--but I don't think he ever actually got to say anything...)

Hoping to see more Tonks in the next one, but I think everyone is. Was vaguely surprised by the near-total absence of Draco, but did not complain, as am not really a Draco fan. Felt occasional flutterings of long-subdued Hermione/Ron shipping. (I shipped them like crazy when I was a kid, now that I remember. Never wrote or read fic about them, but they're one of the few het ships that I genuinely did get that fluttery feeling in my stomach for. It may be worth mentioning that that hardly ever happens with slash. Ahh, the desperate hope for the possibility of actual canon--the things it does to you.)

Part of the reason why this one was so much better is that it was written by someone besides the usual guy, and directed by some other new fellow, but while the director is sticking around for the next one (thank god), the writer is not (oh dear), and I am uncertain as to how this will play out. I mean, the usual guy wrote Prisoner of Azkaban, right? So he's not that bad. Maybe he just needs a good director, like with Alfonso Cuaron. We shall see. But for now: onward, to vidding!

i like actors, vids and vidding, i like movies, harry potter
