It's also the first DW finale I haven't cried at, which is sort of interesting in and of itself.

Today, I watched two things, and they were both the respective season finales of two shows that start with the letter D. And they were both very good! Probably you can guess that one of them is Doctor Who, and possibly you can guess that the other is Durarara!!, and actually if we're talking about things that feature the letter D I did reread a lot of Pet Shop of Horrors yesterday so I guess the letter D is kind of stalking me or something, I don't know. More on that later.

The Big Bang: do you want to know why I think everyone is so happy with this finale? I think it is partly because it is the first finale New Who has ever had to feature neither a regeneration nor a companion departure, and people are happy that they get to relax a bit before being shunted onto the next new thing. Also there is that issue of the episode actually being quite good, I mean, I guess that's important too or something. Also um those final moments are pretty much exactly what I wanted in every way possible, so! Basically what I am saying is, yessssss. Is it a spoiler to say that I actually love Rory rather a lot? Because I actually love Rory rather a lot.

DRRR!!: I have the suspicion that the production team is hoping very much for a second season, and I damned well hope they get one, because thank you for not doing anything whatsoever to resolve the big plot point of the series guys D: Although the plot point they did resolve was resolved in a pretty awesome way, and the final Celty + Shinra scene made me laugh so loud I had to pause the video for fear of drowning out dialogue, and also Izaya got punched in the face. I approve of all those things! I approve of them very much.

(Apparently, the respective creators of Durarara!! and Kuroshitsuji are not only fans of each other--the Kuroshitsuji lady actually has DRRR!! fanart on her blog--but they are actually drawing a crossover together, which. Even if it's just one picture, I can't even. But hey, Sebastian and Shizuo do have the same voice actor...)

The reread of Pet Shop of Horrors was more or less completely random, well not really because I was drawing up a list of all the manga I eventually need to buy to make up for my piracy and I was looking around on Amazon to see how much things would cost and apparently there are no non-used copies of PSoH in existence seriously how does that work it's not that old which means my money would never go to the creator anyway and I am a bit miffed about this so obviously the thing to do was reread it online just to spite TokyoPop, yes? I made it to volume eight before I realized I didn't want to reread the ending, which actually intrigues me, since I didn't have a huge problem with the ending the first time I read it. And I think I still don't, maybe? I mean, hello, I was talking about Doctor Who a few paragraphs ago, I am fine with casts getting shook up. And what little I read of the sequel was certainly enjoyable (and much easier to legally obtain, damn your eyes). I just, I don't know, being capable of dealing with companion departures is not the same as being unaffected by them. So now instead I am thinking about what would happen if Leon and Wu Fei ever actually met, which is much more entertaining, and would probably involve attempted murder on both sides. (T-chan tries to eat the loser.)

petshop of horrors, kuroshitsuji/black butler/whatever, acceptable level of threesomes, durarara!!, episode ramblings: doctor who, doctor who
