There is, like, real food here, it's amazing.

It is weird how when I have classes and homework and actual deadlines I post all the time, and yet when I am home and have no real obligations whatsoever I fall silent on the internet front. So this is what I have been doing! --I have not been doing very much. A couple weeks ago I convinced my parents to order this big Adobe package (student ( Read more... )

none of you can judge me, i have a crush on every boy, i like comics, episode ramblings: doctor who, my life and welcome to it, supernatural, doctor who, tv tropes will ruin your life, vids and vidding, that guy with the glasses

It only took a few episodes before I realized my primary reaction to Linkara was "I WANT ONE". Seriously, how does he not have a girlfriend? THAT IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY.

(Kickassia is amaaaaziiiiiing, everyone just hams it up like there's no tomorrow and Spoony is adorably traumatized and Linkara gets to be Authoritative and basically it is one of the greatest things I have ever seen. Also there's a little bit of Linkara/MarzGurl shippiness, not gonna lie I am down with that.) I've been thinking about looking at more of Spoony's stuff! The intimidating thing about him is that there is just so much, though, he had tons of videos before he joined the site and none of them are organized chronologically. I AM A COMPLETIST, OKAY. But I do love it when he shows up in other stuff and maybe possibly ship Insano with Linkara a little bit shut up you can't judge me, so we shall see. I did look at a couple Cinema Snob episodes, but exploitation/horror isn't really my thing (also I made the mistake of watching his review of The Human Centipede, really I didn't need any more reminders of that thing). I do like his persona, though. Haven't seen any of Phelous barring Kickassia, and the same for Film Brain, although I did see his review of The Spirit with Linkara because, well, Linkara. cough.

--so there is a fic comm! I really should have looked for one earlier, I'd heard rumors on TV Tropes of there being actual fics. I, um. May now have something to spend the rest of the night doing. Thank you.

I kind of fell for him when he referenced Blake's Seven, tbh. I don't even watch it, but the thought that he does makes me happy, it's just such an obscure nerdy reference. Oh, and the time he let Bennett take a whack at the fanfic he wrote when he was 13. That is the sign of a secure human being.

The only thing that's keeping me from watching is that it's six parts long and lately I just haven't had that much computer time. But the trailers looked like concentrated win and the whole Spoony/Insano plotline made me go flaily. In fact I am going to set aside some time tomorrow to start it, because there's also a lot of crossover reviews I need to get started on. :D

The way I approached Spoony was starting with his MSTs/Let's Plays, specifically Phantasmagoria or Ripper, since those are more-or-less straight playthroughs with snarky commentary whereas the FF8 one is much more of a review. Phantasmagoria in particular is really long and stands on its own from his other reviews, so at least it's a handy place to get started. From there, you can go on to the rest of the (shorter) FMV Hell videos, and that leads to the rest of the game reviews, and so forth.

Shipping Linkara/Insano is a right and proper thing and if I weren't still getting over the whole quasi-RPS weirdness of it I'd be ficcing all over that. In fact I've started a sort-of Linkara/Insano, Linkara/Marzgurl, and Linkara/Spoony EPIC based on one of the alternate endings to the Silent Hill Dying Inside review, but I have no idea how I'm supposed to actually finish it.

I...am morbidly curious about Human Centipede, I have to admit. I almost want to see if it's really that bad, but then I remember that that'd be a bad idea. But yeah, Film Brain is much less on the horror side of things and more into bad action movies, so you might take to that a bit better.

There is indeed! And some of the fic is rather good! Plus, the Linkara!love is strong among the Treehouse folk, which for me is definitely a plus.

Not just fanfic, Pokemon/Digimon/Sailor Moon self-insert with a plot directly stolen from a Doctor Who audio. That is, like. Quite possibly the geekiest thing to have ever existed. A singularity of geekiness, if you will. Also the fact that he was tied up and gagged during that reading was of great interest to me, um.

It's kind of ridiculously amazing that they shot a 90-minute movie in four days, seriously. (And the commentaries and vlogs reveal just how hellish the conditions were--damn, that lot is hardcore. For a bunch of pasty white out-of-shape twentysomething nerds. Actually it's kind of amazing they didn't all die, isn't it.)

I shall look into the Phantasmagoria review, then! This is the beauty of summer vacation: I am completely justified in doing nothing besides watch videos on the internet. OH YEAH.

I've read Daily Show/Colbert Report stuff; I'm used to handwaving it as "it's the characters, not the people". Although I also read J2 so what do I know. I would totally, totally read that epic! I WOULD READ IT SO HARD. FIND SOME WAY OF BRINGING IT INTO EXISTENCE.

Seeing the Cinema Snob give it an objective review did help soften the impact (I'd already read a Wikipedia summary), yeah, but god do I ever wish brain bleach was a real invention. Someone should get on that.

I don't suppose you could link me to any of the rather good stuff? So far what I've found is...well, what you'd expect. I hold out hope, but sifting is always an awkward process.

Yay! You discovered TGWTG!

And yeah nothing wrong with liking Linkara. He does have a certain....quality (in other words, yeah I like him too). Every time he includes an Old Who clip I'm like WOOT!

Not seen the fanfic review, where's that then?

Critic himself is cool, I prefer him over Angry Videogame Nerd.

Also yeah the Chick is great. I loved her Pocahontas, Labyrinth and Mulan reviews. and the recent one about pop starts, although unsure why she didn't include Miley Cyrus in that.

The fanfic review may be found here; it is a most glorious thing, not least of all for the bondage and Doctor Who references.

I'm just impressed that he was listening to Doctor Who audios at 13. I didn't even know what Doctor Who was at that age, let alone that people still did strange things like listen to audio-only stories. Oh, and that he freely cops to watching Sailor Moon without worrying about his Man Points. Given that Linkara reads TV Tropes and possibly reads his own page, I think the frequency of him getting tied up might just be on purpose. Maybe.

The crossovers and events that I have seen (the Team Brawl and the Mechakara storyline, for example) all flow so well that I forget how much work it must take to coordinate and shoot until I watch the commentaries. I mean, even for pros fight scenes are supposed to be really hard to coordinate, and the Team Brawl is one huge fight scene involving a dozen people with all kinds of props and special effects and it frankly still amazes me. I so cannot wait to see how Kickassia went.

I've never been in an RPS fandom (or at least a primarily RPS fandom) before, so I've never had to get over the weirdness, but it doesn't help that the TGWTG guys are somewhat more likely to come across or read said fic than, say, Stephen Colbert is. Though I suppose Colbert at least knowing about the fic is not outside the realm of possibility. But it's not like I'm the only fic writer out there, so...hmm.

Well, anything by emeriin is usually pretty good - she's got a hooker!verse AU that gets a lot of good feedback, though I haven't read it because hookerfic isn't my thing, and her one-shots are quite good as well - they introduce angst into the verse rather well considering how cracky the actual canon is. This Ask That Guy fic is a particular favorite of mine. There's also this Linksano origin story that I like, and the In SPACE! verse, which contrary to its name is actually quite dark and while a little uneven is still enjoyable. That should get you started!

It impresses me as well, though admittedly in part because I didn't know the audios were even around back then. He's what, 25 or 26? Guess Big Finish got started way earlier than I thought. I am comfortable with believing this. Hey, if he apologized to his fangirls for not showing more when he wasn't wearing any pants in that one review...

I think Doug went to film school, so at least he does have some experience with directing, and maybe Rob does as well? But I doubt that involved any study in stunt coordination, so dayumn. Talk about learning how to swim by being thrown in a lake. (And industry standard for the amount of pages shot in a day is three--so if they did eighty-five pages in four days...dude, this lot could give Hollywood a run for their money if they really wanted to.)

I don't think Jon and Stephen know about fic per se, but they do know that a not inconsiderable number of people enjoy their more flirty moments, which is why they keep having them. Jared and Jensen almost certainly do know about fic, which is kind of terrifying, but hey, doesn't stop anybody! I think the TGWTG folks would find it more amusing than anything, really. And given that one "stop giving material to the slashficcers!" line in a Linkara+Spoony review...yeah.

I shall be sure to check those out, then! Thanks muchly! :DDDD
