none of my requests are actually terribly obscure. i think i have missed the point of yuletide

SO HEY DEAR YULETIDE WRITER.

I was going to say "I am not a very picky person" except I realized I was not actually sure of this. Maybe I am a picky person? There are, I know, things that I like and things that I do not like. So!

I like slash and gen, though I'm also starting to get into non-explicit het; when it comes to slash I like explicit stuff, implied stuff, and snuggly schmoopy stuff, although out of my requests that last one really only applies to Being Human. (Well, maybe you could go for it with Ted/Barney; I shall applaud you if you do.) I like happy things and sad things. I like sarcasm, I like inside jokes, I love it when characters are Genre Savvy (and I do apologize for linking to that site; be strong, be strong) and I like random details about wherever it is the story takes place. Local restaurants, weird laws, esoteric history that proves to be crucial to the plot--you name it. I love it when female characters get a chance to play, as you may have guessed from some of my requests' details. I love it when characters are smart. I adore mutual unrequited longing, especially for Being Human. I like Plot, or at least some kind of background scenario. I like it when characters have to work together as a group; even when I'm monoshippy, I never like ignoring the others. I like it when characters are mistaken for being couples, whether or not they realize it. I like it when characters are eating while they're talking. I like it when characters reference random books or movies or TV shows or whatever

Things I do not like: embarrassment. It is a huge squick for me, and anything that makes fun of a character for misunderstanding something or being awkward just turns me right off. (I do like amnesia, though, and I know a certain amount of awkwardness has to be included in that. But not overblown.) I don't like it when canonical love interests are conveniently pushed aside to make way for the slash. Suck it up and think of something. In fact, I don't like it when female characters are mistreated, period; no victimization or over-sexualization, plz. It's okay for a little suffering, but they have to overcome it, preferably on their own. I don't like gross humor, though gory or bawdy is okay. (But again, nothing nasty about women.) I like first-time. When it comes to sex, I'm relatively vanilla; for some pairings I like light bondage but not for Being Human or HIMYM, and nothing kinkier than that. Erm, when it comes to topping--well, out of these pairings, I'd prefer George, Perry, and Dr. Horrible; I'm okay with either for Ted and Barney.

And now, specifics for the individual requests!

Being Human: really, I just like sweet silly stuff for this lot. I like it when Annie is good at noticing things--whether in regards to George and Mitchell or otherwise--and when George is smart and Mitchell is laid-back. I like mythological details, and I'd love to hear more snippets about what Annie and Mitchell have seen of the afterlife, even if it disrupts the sweetness a bit.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang: I like it when Harry is surprisingly competent; see: no embarrassment humor. I loooove banter. With slash, I like it when Harmony's still in the picture (you probably got the point by now, but I feel obligated to repeat it), but I'm not big on actual threesomes. I love casefiles, though they don't have to be particularly complicated. I like first-person narration by Harry, as per the movie.

HIMYM: again, much love for banter, and I do like it when Marshall, Lily, and Robin are around. I don't have much in the way of specifics for this pairing, possibly because I haven't actually read very much of it. Because very little of it exists. Clearly it is up to you to rectify this. Gen's good too, though; I've always loved Barney's perpetual insistence that he's Ted's best friend.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog: is it weird to feel a little embarrassed about requesting this? Fuck it, it's Yuletide; it's the one time everybody's weird little desires come out to play. I requested Dr. Horrible/Captain Hammer, but I do like gen, too, and, of course, gotta mention Penny somewhere. I like post-series, with Dr. Horrible all badass and dead inside. I like the self-aware superhero-supervillain jokes and details the original...show? Movie? Series? Story. The original story had. If you can fit songs in there somewhere, you are awesome. If you can't, you are still awesome, because you're writing Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog fanfiction and that's pretty awesome in and of itself.

All right! Those are my Yuletide ramblings. Go forth, wonderful writer, and create what you will; I look forward to seeing whatever you come up with. *salutes*
