Dude, I am the master of ladders. And the master of tape. And the master of paint. I AM PRETTY MUCH THE MASTER OF ALL SET-RELATED THINGS, EXCEPT THE STAIRS AND THE BED, WHICH I DID NOT BUILD, BUT I AM HELLA SKILLED WITH THE WALLS, YO.

...I'm sure this has nothing to do with having spent three and a half hours working on the set of our school musical ( Read more... )

1500?

Good gods, woman. How do you live? There must be, what, 350, 400 some in your grade alone? Wow. There isn't that many in my whole *high school*. Wow...

Also, theater people FTMFW. Half my friends are all theater people, and they are so, so awesome, as are you! (I'm a little bubbly tonight :))

Also, that musical sounds absolutely made of awesome. Wish we could do something that cool...

Hell, just check out what burningvigor said down below--hers had 3500. Now that is unbelievable. (The sad thing is, of the 400 or so people in my grade, less than 150 will graduate. Yeah. We're one of those schools. That doesn't stop us from being hella awesome, though--we've actually gotten awards for being the most spirited school around these here parts. Also our drama department is the low-budget bomb. Drama kids may, in fact, be the coolest high schoolers there are--it takes a special kind of madness and confidence to get up on stage, and that always makes for interesting people.

Standing on a ladder like that sounds pretty terrifying. D: But that play sounds totally awesome. XD;; Man, my high school was 3,500 people. Being known was kind of impossible. Anyway, good luck with all of that! I remember how busy the drama kids at my school always were -- I definitely don't have that sort of work ethic.

3500? Ye gods almighty, man! As for work ethic, well, like I said, it just feels normal to me. Oh hey, it's that part of the play when rehearsals start to get longer. Is that time already? Ho hum.

Yeah, it was pretty insane. Didn't help that most of the campus was uphill, either. That school had way too many stairs, dammit. But yeah, I kind of know what you mean. One of those things that you're so used to that you just kind of do it without really thinking much of it. Still, good luck!

I live a life of danger. Although I still have bruises on my knees from where I pressed them against the inner sides of the ladder to keep them from shaking alarmingly.

Yes, i shall totally expect pictures, you know this, right?

And man, that musical sounds absolutely fantastic! i live for strong female roles and i'm also full of ferret glee 'cause "Fred" is the name that my brain pulls up by default whenever anyone asks for one and it's what i dubbed Sraedi/tomspawn in sluggychat one day (when she said that people could call her whatever they wanted (when someone questioned her nick) and i said, "Fred! Can i call you Fred?" and when she approved, i didso & it stuck.) Other people call her Fred now too. Heh ( ... )

There's a song in the show which should be called 'I'm In Love With A Girl Named Fred', because that's the primary lyric (it's actually called 'Song of Love' which is kind of lame), and it's totally awesome and adorable. Then there's the bit where the pregnant chick says, "If it's a girl, I'll name her Fred!" ("What if it's a boy?" the prince asks.)

Hey, there are parts in some musicals that do not feature singing! And, well, to be honest, our prince really can't (and the other male lead can't, either), but he is a rockstar actor who fits the part with an alarming degree of perfection, so I suspect somewhere there is a similar part for you. (The music director has been coaching him furiously for the past month, and he has gotten better.) And, of course, one could look for non-musical theatre...*cough cough*

Ohmaaaan, clearly this is a musical i need to see! So much squee!

hmm, coaching you say? That sounds rather Hopeful!

And yesyesyes, i totally have vague ideas of finding local theatre to participate in .. but first i have to resolve the Josh Situation 'cause that is eating all my spare energy & resolve right now. But just as soon as that is squared away & my head clears, ohyessy.

Theatre is the greatest high school thing, ever. I am seriously bummed that my college theatre group is significantly less good.

***

Once Upon A Mattress is *wonderful*. Go look up the made-for-TV version they made a couple Christmasses ago --it has a BRILLIANT Fred, Carol Burnett (the original Fred) as the Queen, and Zooey Deschanel as Lady Larkin. (<3)

***

More yay theatre. Also, your high school is 50-100 kids smaller than mine was, but you've got three hundred people on my college. So yay!

But I heard the movie doesn't have the Minstrel in it? I like the Minstrel. He's cool. (Well, in our version he's a she. As is the Jester. Makes for a couple of interesting moments, I can tell you...)
