Red Sox news

A few days ago (or maybe a week, hell if I remember), the Red Sox traded top prospect in shortstop Hanley Ramirez and pitcher Anibal Sanchez and pitcher Jesus Delgado to the Marlins for pitcher Josh Beckett and third baseman Mike Lowell.

It's a good trade. Hanley Ramirez is supposedly going to be a great player in the future but his progress has been too slow. Plus he has an attitude. Not only that, but we have Renteria at shortstop (ugh....). I haven't heard much about Anibal Sanchez or Jesus Delgado.

Josh Beckett is a good pick up though. I doubt he will win a Cy Young award or anything but he only 25 years of age, plus he is able to win 15 games for us. We need pitching, considering the disaster Curt Schilling has been as of late.

Mike Lowell is not in his prime anymore but he still a good pickup. However, we already have Kevin Youkilus at third base which means either one of them is moving first base, or Youkilus plays second base (I doubt he wants to do that again), or one of them (most likely Lowell) will be used for trade bait in getting either more pitching or more outfeilders (it doesn't appear Ramirez and Damon are both coming back next year...)

What an interesting offseason this has been...and we're barely into it...

On another note, I fucking love Serena Maneesh...
