My Fantasy Band
Recently went to a website called catch27....I didn't sign up for it or anything....seemed kind of dumb....but I did find one area of particular interest...
One of the questions they asked their members were "What would your fantasy band be?" or something like that...it was a pretty interesting question to think about...so after a lot of thinking (about 2 seconds) I came up with my version of what the ultimate band would be like.
The first member of my band would be Johnny Greenwood, who is the guitarist of Radiohead....he plays a mean guitar and he also plays about a dozen other instruments as well...he even invents his own damn instruments...so already my band has some versatility to it...
The next member would be Ronald Jones who was a guitarist for The Flaming Lips from '93 until '96. He's probably a better guitarist than Greenwood but he doesn't have as much versatility...
Next up is John Cale who is the former bassist for Velvet Underground and has had a solid solo career as well. He is also able to play many different instruments. Namely a Viola.
Next up is Kevin Shields who used to be the lead member of My Bloody Valentine...although not great with the guitar OR vocals, he would not need to be in my band....his main job would be to take the recordings of the three aformentioned members of my band and produce it so it has that "shoegazing atmospheric sound" that made his band so awesome.
Now we need a drummer....no wait...screw the drummer....we can have DJ Shadow come in and make drum loops for the band...he has enough resources to get the job done....and he has proven himself to be the king of drum loops in the past anyways....
Next up, we have Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin from Boards of Canada whose main would be to take the drum loops DJ Shadow created and the sounds Kevin Shields came up with and combine the two together AND come up with some of their own background ambient samples and synthesizers and whatever else they feel like using...
Alright, so far we have quite the mix...but now we need a singer...and after much careful consideration I decided that Polly Jean Harvey (from PJ Harvey....DUH!) would be my singer...she has a great voice and can write great lyrics...and that's all I need....
And there you have it...my fantasy band....could be interesting....
