it's been a good christmas, and a good year. something of a transitional one, what with previous years being marked by extensive global living/traveling, and next year being my foray back into the land of Academia for the first time since 2001.
year in review:
-hp3 was formed, and thrives.
-turned 30
-decided i was fully done with any residual phantom trace of the idea that i would pursue a future in social work, and...
-decided, at long last, to pursue a future in teaching foreign languages, namely spanish. which means first taking my own spanish to a higher level (while earning a second BA, this time in said language -- my first was in Psych -- at PSU, and then proceeding to get an MA in teaching foreign languages; altogether 3.5 - 4 years of school, yikes!).
-i had a really good relationship, and then she dumped me for her ex, so that, well, wasn't very good. for about 3 months there, i was very, very content. then for about two weeks i was very angry, frustrated & sad. now i'm ok. but single. but ok. buh.
-i saw and enjoyed the dark knight on multiple occasions in multiple formats.
-i got seriously back into working on music, especially in these more recent months. upgraded software, bought many new software toys, altogether fully surrounded myself in a very exciting & powerful musical environment (digitally, of course). did some music for Jim's project, working on countless ideas for my own various ambitions that demand regular feeding. seeking as always to pare it down to one project (at least chronologically).
-listened to more Metal than ever before. favorite? emperor and amon amarth. saw the latter, actually, at hawthorne theater, with said ex. good show.
-read drastically less than i did in the previous two years. why? easy: wasn't traveling, had my guitars/keyboards/computers again. b'oh. all a trade-off, i suppose.
-saw Nick Cave & sigur ros play here in town. awesome.

i'm sure there's more but that covers the big details. as for the usual "favorites" list, it's too easy this time...Movie - Dark Knight ; Album - Sigur Ros, Med...you know, difficult icelandic title... ; book? errrrr... Goodnight Moon 2: Goodnighter Moon(er). right!
